Meet Republican Party Judicial Candidate Roger Bridgwater

Roger Bridgwater’s 2007 gubernatorial appointment as 178th Criminal District Judge brought 29 years of active criminal trial experience. A respected jurist, trial attorney and former assistant district attorney, Roger was originally hired by Harris County DA Carol Vance and continued public service with Johnny Holmes as DA. Before opening his own firm, Roger was responsible for the prosecution of the most serious types of felony cases.

In the November 2008 General Election I, along with over 2 dozen other Hardworking, Qualified, Non-Activist, Constitution loving Republican Harris County District Court Judges was washed out of office by the Obama Tusanmi.

It has been almost 4 years since the Democrats took those important Judgeships and I’m asking you to take the Court House back and let me serve you again as the Judge of the 178th District Court.

I have worked in the Harris County Criminal Courts since 1975 when I worked full time for Ray Hardy in the District Clerk’s Office during the day and attended South Texas College of Law at night.  I completed South Texas in 3 years by taking courses at night and on Saturdays.  It was a full load, but I had a goal to make a difference in the legal community and was willing to work hard to obtain it.

When I graduated Law School, I was hired by Carol Vance, the then Harris County District Attorney.  Following his retirement, Johnny Holmes kept me on in his office as well.

In 1983 I left the DA’s office and went to work for a small civil firm that specialized in real estate and business transactions.

A few years latter I went out on my own and started Law Offices of Roger Bridgwater.  I was in private practice for 22 years until receiving the Governor’s appointment.

After the dust settled from the Obama disaster, Judge Pat Lykos called me and asked me if I’d serve on her transition team and stay on to be one of her 5 Bureau Chiefs.  I considered it an honor and a Godsend.

I oversee the continuing education and training for all the ADA’s on the Office.  I also supervise all the adas in the 15 Misdemeanor Courts, those in Crimes Against Children, or in Family Violence, as well as areas Judge Lykos created such as Crimes Against the Elderly, Child Exploitation, and Mental Health.  I also direct DIVERT, the DWI diversion program that Judge Lykos has instituted.

While I absolutely love what I’m doing now, I loved serving you as Judge even more.  I have been married for 36 years to Mary Ann Bridgwater.  We have 2 daughters, one son in law and two precious grandsons, ages 2 & 4.

We have attended HFBC since 1979 and in addition to teaching, leading mission trips, and working with the youth, I am a deacon and a past deacon chair.

I have been active in Republican politics for years, including serving as a Delegate or Alternate to Precinct, Senatorial and State conventions as well as working on numerous campaigns.  I also put my resources where my beliefs are by donating financially to the HCRP (I am now an Ambassador level member on the HCRP Republican Leadership Council

As Judge, I’m committed to protecting our children, our community, and our Constitution. God bless you…. and I need your Vote.
